7 Iconic Wedding Dresses Still Inspiring Bridal Trends

It’s hardly rare for a celebrity to inspire a little change in the fashion world and/or our wardrobes. But bridal trends work a little differently: with a fairly historic preference for a limited palette of whites and creams it’s no wonder that wedding dress trends come around again and again. It takes for a very special someone to make it into the wedding dress hall of fame but once said pioneer has done so, their mould-shattering looks will appear down aisles for years and years to come. Go a little untraditional – but by no means un-trialled – and adopt one of the seven A-list inspired bridal looks that are on sale right now.

1. Jane Birkin
Let's start with the epitome of '60s cool: the insouciant Jane Birkin. What could be sexier that a low-cut ribbed don't-give-a-damn crochet frock? Must be worn with attitude. Pick from a fabulous array of boho (and budget-friendly) brilliance at the fabulous Free People site. This 'Mi Amore' dress would look seriously chic on the beach.

2. Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy
The queen of '90s American minimalism, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy married JFK Jr in 1996 and was an incredibly cool bride. The former publicist for Calvin Klein (can't you just tell?) looked impossibly simple and chic in a silk slip gown designed by Narciso Rodriguez for Cerruti. You can't have failed to notice the huge trend for '90s minimalism right now, and true-to-form, the bridal industry has followed suit. Her sheer gloves are a dreamy touch too.

3. Claudia Schiffer
Scandi-chic perfection came in the shape of the beautiful Claudia Schiffer on her wedding day, surprisingly. Clean cut off-the-shoulder lace is incredibly flattering as it shows off your best assets - collar bone and shoulders. A Lily Of The Valley crown and boucquet add crisp, clean wonderousness too.

4. Grace Kelly
An all-time wedding classic has had a slight update of late. A prim Victorian collar and oodles of lace meet an empire-line worthy of the Princess of Monaco. But choose a trim silhouette or even a sexy splice up the skirt and you can take this fantasy ceremonial look into the modern day. Try Hermione De Paula for her exquisite and slim-line lace confections for a bit of a rock-chick take on the trend.

5. Kate Moss
We may not all have access to John Galliano's designs and Mario Testino's lens on our wedding day. But her simple bias-cut silk satin gown is easily translated into real-life. Many a v-neck slip has entered the bridal market and we love this Kate inspired veil from Minna.
Kate Moss, Temperley 'Gloriana' dress (price on request); Minna Veil £140
6. Keira Knightley
Keira couldn't have played her nuptials with any less cool than this. She re-wore a shimmering mini dress from Chanel for her wedding to Klaxons band-member James Righton and teamed it with a mini boucle jacket and sunnies. Should you want to invest in an utterly re-wearable - and not to mention adorable - dress for your wedding day, look no further than this fluttery feather number from J Crew or a Bubble skirt from Lanvin.

Keira Knightley; J Crew 'Feather Flutter Dress' £1995; Lanvin 'Bubble' dress at Net-a-porter £2395
7. Mia Farrow
Inimitable chic that still works today comes via the marvelous Mia Farrow and her perfect pixie crop. For a timeless look, choose a simple a-line shift with a wee cropped jacket. These will never go out of style.

EXCLUSIVE: Meet Hannah Dodd, Burberry's New Campaign Star

Burberry has a new leading lady - a golden girl who comes close to stealing the limelight from Romeo Beckham in the Brit brand's new Christmassy campaign video, and that's no mean feat. But who is she?

World, say hello to Hannah Dodd, a 19-year-old model from Suffolk signed with Select who's following in the footsteps of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Suki Waterhouse and Cara Delevingne by becoming part of the Burberry crew. Hannah dances and twirls her way through the festive ad dressed in layers of Burberry tulle, showcasing her dancing skills and red-lipped pout.

Grazia Daily caught up with the blonde beauty who's surely set for stardom to talk all things Burbs...

Grazia Daily: How did the Burberry campaign come about?
Hannah Dodd: I got invited to cast and audition through my agency Select Model Management.

Grazia Daily: How did you feel when you found out it was happening?
Hannah Dodd: I was so excited! And really surprised too - I told my parents first, who were just as excited.

Grazia Daily: What's it really like shooting with the Burberry family?
Hannah Dodd: I was really nervous, but they create such a friendly atmosphere. I had a lot of fun on set each day with the cast and crew.
Grazia Daily: How does shooting for Burberry compare to other jobs you've done?
Hannah Dodd: It was different to other jobs just because I had to dance as well! I had to be very aware that I was wearing such beautiful clothing whilst performing choreography too. It was also on a much larger scale than I'm used to with the set and the number of people in the cast and crew. But because we spent a longer period of time together as a cast compared to other jobs, we got quite close as a group so it will definitely be a job I won't forget.

Grazia Daily: And how long did it take to learn the routine?
Hannah Dodd: We learned it in about 2-3 days and we had a few rehearsal days before the shoot.

Grazia Daily: Can you tell us a secret from set?
Hannah Dodd: I think we must have gone through a million Compeed patches as a group for all of our blisters on our feet!

Grazia Daily: Were there any disasters with all the dancing and those dresses?
Hannah Dodd: No major disasters, I think we all fell over in the dresses at least once each though!

Grazia Daily: Your dress is incredible – what was it like to wear? And did you get to keep it?
Hannah Dodd: It's gorgeous! I felt like a princess, but dancing in it was a bit challenging! And no, I didn't get to keep it. I wish!

Grazia Daily: So what's next?
Hannah Dodd: I'm currently studying a degree in theatre dance, but I'm excited to see what the future holds.

As are we! Watch the Burberry campaign video in full below...

6 Tips for Throwing a Flawless Dinner Party, Courtesy of Valentino

What do you wear to tea with Mr. Valentino? This was a question I and several other digital editors had to take into serious consideration when we stopped by the penthouse apartment of Giancarlo Giammetti, Mr. Valentino's longtime business partner, to be entertained and learn about the art of entertaining from the legendary designer. See, in addition to knowing how to design one hell of a gown, Valentino also throws one hell of a dinner party. (Remember that luncheon he gave Kim Kardashian and Kanye the day before their wedding?) In his new book, Valentino: At the Emperor’s Table, a gorgeous collection of photographs of Mr. Valentino's personal parties and tabletops throughout the years, he reveals his favorite recipes and entertaining tips.

Over tea and madeleines, Mr. Valentino and André Leon Talley waxed nostalgic about grand fêtes of years past (from Capri to Gstaad to Rome) and the fabulous company (Jackie O., Elizabeth Taylor, Kim Kardashian), as well as offered up some sound advice on l’arte de vivre.

Rule #1: It's all about the right crowd

"The people in the room are as important as the chairs they’re sitting on or as the food they’re eating."

Rule #2: Dress Up Your Table

"My tables today, they are most like one of my dresses, I try to put in detail. Because I love objects, I love to put flowers, I love to put mint, chocolate, everything on them. And I go around to see what’s going on in my house, the objects, the things and I put it everywhere."

Rule #3: Nix the white tablecloths

"I love color. And this comes from my fashion designer career. For instance, if you ask me which kind of tablecloth I want to put in a table, I never like so much the white tablecloth. I love the colored ones, because china is very beautiful on top of pale yellow, dusty pink, pale blue and jade green color."

Rule #4: Seniors rule

"At my right, I always put the oldest person, if she’s a lady. Or the oldest friend."

Rule #5: Separate the couples

"The American couple…they always want to be together. That is not nice. You have to make conversation."

Rule #6: When in doubt, send flowers

"I send always flowers to thank my hosts. But I prefer when people come with nothing, because I never know where to put it. Not because I am a snob, but because sometimes maybe they buy something that doesn’t go."

Fall Hair, Makeup, and Nail Trends From Our Favorite TV Shows

Bonnie Winterbottom's bleach-blond bob, How to Get Away With Murder
Go on and give actress Liza Weil a long stare and you'll remember where you've seen her before: She played Amanda Tanner on Scandal and Paris Geller on Gilmore Girls, both as a brunette! Which just goes to show—a hair transformation may be exactly what you need to take your overall look (and maybe career) to next-level status.

Rainbow Johnson's curly hair, Black-ish
Anyone else out there feel like there's a serious dearth of curly-haired gals represented on television? If so, let Tracee Ellis Ross, star of Black-ish, be the inspiration you need to put down that flatiron and embrace your natural hair.

Mindy Lahiri's almond-shaped manicure, The Mindy Project
Since most of us aren't feeling the classic French manicure these days, we're happy to see that Mindy Kaling's Dr. Lahiri swapped hers for a very-of-the-moment pale pink almond-shaped nails. Consider doing the same this season and trying a dark, fall-appropriate hue.

Jessica Day's parted bangs, New Girl
By growing out her bangs and adding a slight part, Jess went from uber-nerdy and uptight to sexy and sophisticated. Use this trick when you're trying to transition your summertime fringe to fall.

Gwen Stefani's signature red lipstick, The Voice
In addition to her selfless attitude and cool-girl vibe, we can't get enough of Gwen's amazing red lipstick look onThe Voice. Steal her style by applying a matte lipstick base, like L'Oréal Paris Infallible in Ravishing Red, and then something creamy on top, like MAC Lipglass in Russian Red.

Sally Wheet's soft finger waves and two-tone nails, Boardwalk Empire
Although we immediately associate the 1930s with slick finger waves, what's especially cool about Patricia Arquette's period-piece style is her red-and-white nail art. Use it as an alt-inspiration at your next manicure appointment.

Zelda, A to Z
Yep, Cristin Milioti, the Mother from How I Met Your Mother, has graduated to her own TV show and is giving bushy-browed girls everywhere a run for their money. When paired with simple eyeliner, a few coats of mascara, and lovely nude lipstick, bold brows help create the perfect work makeup look.

Dana, Manhattan Love Story
Some haircuts can signal a change for the worse in characters (ahem, Penny of The Big Bang Theory), while others are an indication that the actress is growing up. Case in point? Analeigh Tipton, whom you currently know as the babysitter in Crazy, Stupid, Love but will come to adore as an NYC transplant in Manhattan Love Story. Her curly chin-length bob is equal parts mature and sophisticated, without looking too buttoned-up.

Rayna James, Nashville
The reigning queen of thick, shiny hair, Connie Britton, who plays Rayna James, is back for another drama-filled season. Embrace your inner country star on your next night out and rock the diva's signature curls and waves.

Lt. Abbie Mills, Sleepy Hollow
As a TV cop you'd think Nicole Beharie's character would be all business, no fun. But Mills' relaxed waves are a study in how to flaunt your feminine side in corporate, possibly stuffy industries.

Aritzia Enlists Petra Collins to Help Make It in America

At first glance, 23-year-old fashion and art photographer Petra Collins seems like an unusual choice to be one of the many faces of Aritzia’s Full of Heart holiday marketing and social campaign, which launches mid-November—Collins was kicked off Instagram last fall for posting a picture of her not-hairless bikini line and has created a vivid menstruation T-shirt for American Apparel—but chief marketing officer Oliver Walsh calls it a “social experiment.” “When we think about the Aritzia customer, she is stylish and connected,” says Walsh. “As a brand, we want to be connected to talent [who] our girl is associated with.”

Collins certainly fits that mold. Since rejoining Instagram last October, she has accumulated 83,402 followers (Aritzia, for its part, has 188,608). It helps that Collins also has a compelling Aritzia story: “It was actually my first job when I was 14 or 15,” says the Toronto native. “I think I was hired for my personal style, something that the brand is all about.”

In case you haven’t heard of Aritzia, it was started in Vancouver 30 years ago and brought to the U.S. in 2007. What started as a third-party boutique catering to trend-loving, fashion-forward women ages 15 to 45 now carries 13 exclusive in-house brands, as well as nonexclusive fashion favorites like Alexander Wang, Rag & Bone, and Frame Denim. But interest in the company is still tepid among the fashion set in the States. The logo and stores don’t fit in with the minimal, architectural retail design that is now native to shopping destinations like New York’s Soho.

However, that hasn’t deterred Aritzia from growing aggressively there. The Soho store located on lower Broadway is 10,000 square feet; the Fifth Avenue Rockefeller Center space is 13,000 square feet; and come July 2015, there will be an equally massive Flatiron boutique. Aritzia’s rapid growth in New York is part of what some call millennial marketing—using social media, an easy mobile experience, and an online magazine to reach young, digitally savvy influencers.

Certainly other retailers like Urban Outfitters and J.Crew have been doing this kind of social-meets-magazine-meets-online approach for a while, but Aritzia’s secret weapon is Collins, whose cult following online is exactly the kind of thing that gets a brand into the hearts and wallets of the cool kids. “We don’t consider ourselves fast fashion, so we aren’t looking for a quick hit in sales because of a one-off celeb or collaboration,” says Walsh. In that case, Collins’ loyalty matters. “When I heard they were coming to New York, I thought I should start shopping there again,” she says. “I can buy something super-inexpensive or invest in one of their cool parkas that I buy every season.” Right now, though, she is in love with a pair of high-waisted bell-bottom workwear pants: “I can wear them around the house, but I also look super-professional in them. It’s the kind of thing that I want people to know is Aritzia.”

Miranda Kerr’s Latest Photo Shoot Is Incredible

While Kerr is undeniably one of the most beautiful women alive, this particular look she has for the cover and inside the glossy is definitely our all time favorite. For the cover, Kerr is wearing a stunning $15,000 Valentino gown that is layered in navy tulle pieces with a romantic red heart stitched on the left side. The skirt is covered with woven stars and embellishments. Her look was completed with a gold star pendant necklace. Her hair is parted to the right and softly flowing in lose waves. Throughout the whole issue, Miranda’s makeup is so natural you can barely tell she is wearing any — besides for her pink glossy lips, of course!

Inside the glossy, Kerr was photographed wearing a $9,415 Dolce & Gabbana dress with a floral crown on top of her head. She also wore a jaw-dropping Valentino number that costs about $20,000! This is a bit of a change for us, as we’re used to seeing her rock skinny jeans and t-shirts when she’s out and about, but we definitely feeling inspired by her high-fashion style here. Speaking of inspiration, the 31-year-old opened up about where she found fashion influence. “My grandmother inspired my style from when I was a very young girl. I used to love watching her put outfits together – it wasn’t necessarily about spending money, it was about tailoring outfits specific to her body shape. I also find Cate Blanchett’s style very inspiring, elegant and timeless and she was exceptionally gorgeous at this year’s Oscars. I also find lots of style inspiration from my travels and experiences in different cultures.”

Kerr added “Australian style is very wearable, practical, easygoing and relaxed. I think it’s quite reflective of our attitude. My personal style is quite wearable and functional.” Whether she’s dressed up or dressed down, Miranda Kerr is definitely a model to watch.

How to find your perfect hat

Make no mistake, this autumn (and winter) is the season of the hat. But don't take our word for it. Designers from Emporio Armani (taking its style cue from Pharrell Williams) and Saint Laurent (the wide brimmed floppy Seventies style numbers beloved of Hedi Slimane) to Acne with its supersize bobble versions and Giles and his homespun knitted beanies courtesy of Wool & the Gang, all got involved via their autumn/winter collections.

"Hats are back; they're the new handbag" says Sanchia Softley, hats and scarves buyer at Fenwick of Bond Street."The hat has a personality that can match or exaggerate yours. A quiet woman can hide behind her floppy brim, the city girl can do classic style with a large brim fedora and the confident woman can stand out in her sequin turban."

Everyone can wear a hat, she says, but not every hat will work. "Face shape, height and size will determine what style will suit; proportions are key."

Softely's rules to getting ahead in the hat department

FACE SHAPES...

Round
A high crown will lengthen the face. Look out for fur cossack hats from Grevi or Gilly Forge or aforementioned Armani versions.

Oval
A strong jawline can be softened by a floppy brim. "Think Sienna Miller circa 2004," says Softley.

Square
Those with strong features can pull off a baseball cap with leather being "very in Vogue." For a quirky look, the Telegraph loves pieces by Helene Berman or Bernstock Speirs.

Heart shaped
Trilby or peaked caps work well in this case and Softley loves labels such as Eugenia Kim.

Oblong
Try wide brim fedoras and beanies as a low crown or wider brim will balance the face's proportions.

HEIGHT...

If you're petite in stature
Choose a smaller hat in dimension, however, height can help lift a shorter person.

If you're tall or of larger build
A wide brim is best.

DO...

Incorporate a hat into your party dressing lexicon
"It is also appropriate at most contemporary city functions, to wear something more unusual," says Softley. She recommends giving a trilby a go; especially with a trouser suit - the Telegraph loves those by Philip Treacy and Christys' London - or even a turban which "can look elegant and set you apart from conventional dressing."

DON'T...

Delay
Now you're armed with the rules, it's time to put them into practice but don't do anything without checking out our top buys for the season with a little inspiration from fashion's most stylish.

WIDE-BRIMMED FEDORA
Naomi Watts.
British actress Naomi Watts is stylish in the city, wrapping up against the elements in one of this season's key belted coats teamed with a black, wide-brimmed Fedora. Take a leaf out of Watts' style book: matching said hat with bag and shoes renders the overall look chic and co-ordinated.

From top left : navy felt fedora, £60, Whistles; Maison Michel colour block fedora, £600, Matches Fashion; Hat Attack navy fedora with black band, £118, My Theresa;Bailey for J Crew felt hat, £58, J Crew; Rag & Bone pecan floppy brim fedora, £135,Avenue 32

BOBBLE HATS
Acne autumn/winter 2014 catwalk
The Acne show was unmissable for its supersize bobble numbers. But while this look may be a tad extreme for everyday consumption, hats with pompoms have subsequently taken a stylish leap from the slopes and après ski to a street near you. And if a bobble on its own doesn't feel quite bling enough, try Markus Lupfer's crystal tiara beanie for size for a regal take on the trend.

From left: Red pom pom ribbed beanie, £14, Topshop ; Markus Lupfer black crystal tiara beanie hat, £140, Liberty; Pompom knit beanie, £38, Anthropologie; Inverni cashmere and fox fur beanie, £210, Browns Fashion; Bobble hat in navy, £95, Chinti & Parker

PEAKED CAPS
Lanvin autumn/winter 2014 catwalk
Peaked hats were a real feather in the cap for Alber Elbaz at Lanvin this season and they will have just the same effect on those with heart-shaped faces especially. Take your pick from sporty Genie to prim Antonio Marras or take things to another level with Fendi and its fabulous fur pompom.

From left: Fendi fur hat, £340, Matches Fashion; Peaked hat, £55, Reiss ; Genie red felt cap, £70, Liberty ; Antonio Marras black felt cap, £115, Avenue 32; Stella McCartney green felted wool baseball cap, £180, My Theresa

BEANIES
Cara Delevingne in the Giles Deacon autumn/winter 2014 catwalk show
Beanies have been increasingly acquiring a life of their own and we're not just talking about the ones with eyes, as knitted by Wool and the Gang for Giles Deacon and his model crew. On the high street, COS is our absolute go-to for uber-plain grey cashmere (super chic with a floor skimming coat) to jazzy cable knits but for a fun, youthful twist, check out veiled options from urban favourites Silver Spoon and Bernstock Speirs.

Grevi gold lurex beanie, £65, Liberty; Bernstock Spiers black and white bow veiled beanie, £110, Liberty; Tak Ori St. Moritz mohair-blend beanie £220, Net a Porter;Orange chunky knit, £29, COS; Silver Spoon beanie with pearl veil, £90, Browns Fashion; Eugenia Kim Magritte alpaca beanie, £140, Net a Porter; Silver Spoon bad kitty beanie, £80, Selfridges

NARROW BRIM
Street style at London Fashion Week
A perfect accessory to compliment this Paul Smith pyjama vibe; the muted jewel hues render this street style look rich, opulent and achingly on trend. Christys' Londonmanaging director, Steve Clarke enjoins people to work a trilby for a party look, such as the purple Tyler hat. Just watch as all heads turn to you! He also points out that a narrow brim or irregular shape balances out a round face.

From left: Christys' London purple Tyler tribly hat, £110, Liberty; Gucci felted velour fedora, £375, Matches Fashion; Genie red jordan wool felt hat, £70, Liberty; Hat Attack felted wood fedora, £114, My Theresa; Maison Michel Virginie felt fedora, £565, Matches Fashion; Classic fedora with grosgain ribbon, £58, J Crew

BASEBALL CAPS
Blogger Susie Bubble strikes a pose in her bow-embellished baseball cap
Leave the sports logos to the urban crew. The baseball cap has had a serious makeover this season and suddenly it's acceptable headwear in the smartest of circles thanks to new incarnations in luxe fabrications such as leather and wool felt - J.Crew and Whistles do the best in the affordable luxury market. However, we have a major hankering for the glitter bunny ears version by Bernstock Speirs.

From left: Stella McCartney wool felt baseball cap, £180, Net a Porter; Red leather baseball cap, £110, J Crew; Bernstock Speirs navy glitter bunny cap, £75, Liberty;Black quilted cap, £16, Topshop; Grey felt baseball cap £50, Whistles

FLOPPY
Sibling autumn/qinter 2014 collection
Tall girls with strong features will be in their bohemian element in a floppy, wide brimmed hat. The ones at the Sibling show above were a collaboration with milliners Bernstock Speirs, but you can let your imagination run wild when it comes to colour and fabrication. Top high street choices can be found at River Island and Topshop, though the luxe options are Eugenia Kim's rabbit felt number and the leopard print version by Littledoe.

From left: Catarzi Exclusive to ASOS Floppy Hat With Grosgain Trim, £35, ASOS;Light blue oversize fedora hat, £28, River Island; Littledoe leopard rabbit fur davidson hat, £315, Avenue 32; Felt floppy hat, £60, Whistles; Eugenia Kim Bette rabbit-felt hat, £290, Net a Porter; Burgandy felt floppy hat, £28, Topshop;

TURBANS
Louis Vuitton S/S15
With the Seventies firmly in vogue this winter, and its attendant glamour set to sashay well into next year if Louis Vuitton has anything to do with it at all (which we fully expect it will), it is high time to consider the turban once more. It instantly bestows an evening outfit with exotic glamour. Wear a plain version with statement earrings - otherwise keep the rest of your look neutral and let the turban do the talking.

Missoni green unica knitted turban, £125, Liberty; Embellished turban, £14, ASOS;Superduper knot wool turbanstyle hat, £148, Luisa Via Roma; Jennifer Behr Swarovski crystal-embellished silk and net turban, £1485, Net a Porter; Jennifer Behr orange silk draped turban, £395, Liberty
